Marketing. Branding. Author Platform. Social Media. Advertising.

Summer Writing SalonSay these words to most authors and they break out in hives, or at least a strong case of I-Don’t-Wannas. Some of us think we can get around it by only publishing traditionally. (Do you hear the laughter? It’s coming from New York).

Ultimately, your marketing, your branding, and your platform are yours. Rather than give you a two hour presentation on what you should be doing (but don’t want to) that conflicts with the last two hour presentation you listened to, we’re going to have a series of conversations inspired by two books. One, the wildly popular, (I got it as a Christmas gift because I’m a writer) 7 Figure Fiction by T. Taylor. The second, the analytical and thorough Joanna Penn’s How to Market a Book. There will also be plenty of supporting and supplemental material provided in the salon forum.

Starting May 18, each Wednesday night, for ninety minutes, we will get together and discuss the assigned reading and our experiences with marketing. Jordyn Kross will lead the lively conversation with the support of Calia Wilde who will also provide insight into how to tell if your marketing efforts are effective.

The end goal, after fourteen weeks of digging into this enormous topic, is that you, dear writer, will have your own bespoke marketing plan that’s sustainable, tied to your vision of success, and accounts for day to day plans as well as a release plan. We provide the guided forum, you provide the brain power and decisions.

Sound interesting? Your next steps if you choose to dive into these depths with us:

  1. Go to the PI Member Calendar and RSVP on the May 18 post
  2. Get the two books
  3. Look for your first homework assignment to post May 11. (We’ll be providing a link to our working forum for the Salon in the PI Member Calendar and on FB)
  4. Get ready to have fun

The salon is open to all PI members. Sessions will be held on Zoom but they will not be recorded.
